mobileSQUARED was launched in 2009 by leading mobile industry analyst Nick Lane, and has since been bolstered with expertise from the mobile industry in Gavin Patterson, and Jo Lane from the world of media. In 2011, Caroline Baldwin joined as a reporter & researcher to drive the company’s weekly and monthly titles, Becci Price heads up our marketing & PR, while our client services manager is Aman Toor.
mobileSQUARED has approx. 40 years combined experience researching the mobile communications industry – starting in 1996 when Nick joined Philips Tarifica, and Gavin joined Baskerville Communications, publisher of Global Mobile, 3G Mobile and Mobile Media. Both went on to be Principal Analysts at Informa Telecoms & Media, researching emerging mobile industry trends and forecasting the latest usage patterns.

Nick launched mobileSQUARED in response to the need for accurate and robust research, analysis and data for companies looking to grasp a more detailed understanding of a sector or market. Areas of specialty include mobile marketing and advertising, mobile internet and social media, apps, content and messaging, as well as mobile technology.
Nick has worked on countless client projects some of which have been released into the public domain, including a number of reports on mobile advertising and marketing, social media and messaging.
Before setting up mobileSQUARED, Nick was a principled principal analyst at Informa, covering the mobile content and advertising space. He was instrumental in developing the world's first mobile advertising forecasts and publishing an industry-defining report on the subject, as well as market-leading reports on mobile entertainment, mobile technology, and understanding the mobile consumer.
The transition into an analyst was based on years as a mobile journalist, where Nick worked on leading titles Mobile Media, Global Mobile and 3G Mobile, as well as breaking stories on the Global Mobile Daily newswire.
When he's not working and being the world's best Dad, Nick is an avid Arsenal fan and is also a qualified Sitcom writer.

Jo Lane, market research director
Jo manages mobileSQUARED's portfolio of events, liaising with venues and sponsors to ensure things run seamlessly.
Prior to being a 'SQUARED' Jo spent 13 years working in communications and marketing roles - including global media and advertising agencies ZenithOptimedia, Starcom and Burkitt DDB, and full service B2B marketing agency dnx - where she managed global communications planning for clients such as Toyota Lexus, Puma, Seiko, Calvin Klein, John Lewis and Oracle, amongst others.
She also enjoyed a brief stint working in higher education marketing, attracting students from Europe, Asia and South America to study in the UK, which involved frequent travel to the Far East - a tough job but someone had to do it!
